{or you could buy a t-shirt there for the same price}

After about 0.002 seconds of admiring this gem, my fabric radar went off and I realized that is the same orangey-red/persimmon fabric on the famous and fabulous Asrid chair. This picture of the fabric here on the chair helps to give you a sense of the scale of the headboard. Big and beautiful.

Just please don't tell me about it if you do end up buying the bed.

Also up for your consideration...this ($749.95 for a king)

Which has a striking resemblance to this. Though definitely not as cool.
LOVE the bedheads they are stunning! I like your blog too!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric on the astrid chairs. I want that headboard.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the blue fabric on the anthro knock-off better than the original red embroidered fabric. Don't hate me.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I love your joke about either buying the headboard or a t-shirt. I love Anthro, but there stuff is so pricey. I worked there during my college years for a bit and even with a 40% discount a still couldn't afford anything.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the $500 is always the sticking point, but you do have great taste.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a kid's version in a twin. This style would be so cute and cheeky in a girl's room.
ReplyDeleteThe second picture with the blue headboard is how my whole house would end up looking if I spend $500 on a headboard. No money left for paint on the walls or any other decor whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteMaybe someday.
Mrs. Petrie - I totally agree with your thoughts on using a headboard like this for a kids room. That is actually my plan for our next house!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn - I hear you on the $500 is pricey thing. Can you believe that these are more than half off? Furniture is so expensive...
I know you will come up with a way to make one and it will only cost...say....$50! I'll be waiting for the tutorial. And I love the fabric for the head board featured in cookie magazine the very very most.
ReplyDeleteCould you possibly do a post on decor that would go with the red headboard? Sheets, wall decor...I love it but the only thing I can think of to go with it is white which might just drive me crazy.
ReplyDeleteI bought the queen version of this headboard in the blue print during the summer of 2008 for 50% off. I immediately recovered it in Pottery Barn's linen, still available for $9/yd online at www.housefabric.com. Here's my revised headboard: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3070/3073536478_c8630f94cd_b.jpg
ReplyDeletedo you have the link to the cookie magazine photo? I would love to see a bigger picture of the bedding she chose to go with the headboard. Thanks! (LOVE your blog!)
ReplyDeleteHey Erin,
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I think that is the full-size picture from Cookie. I've never seen anything bigger. I'm sure she used white linens though, with maybe an accent color by way of a band (hotel bedding style) or embroidery. Pottery barn has some great, price-sensitive options for this type of bedding.
You wouldn't want to use any pattern on the bed - maybe a ticking stripe at most - so that the beautiful embroidery on the headboard can shine over, not compete with the rest of the bed.
Hope that helps a little,
Jenny
Great designs. Headboards give your bedroom a better look and I'm using the one that I bought from Ballard Designs. They are lovely.
