Calling All Pelmet Boxes

At the request of some readers, I'm putting together a Flickr group of pelmet boxes that YOU have made using this basic tutorial. I'll also be doing a post about all the submitted projects.

If you'd like to be included, please send me an email with a link to your blog post or a picture of your DIY pelmet. Please resend this info even if you've already emailed me or left a comment.

Won't it be inspirational to see what other DIYers chose for the pelmet box shape and the fabric they used?

First up: Maria's chic golden combo.

She used a stencil from JoAnns to make the pattern on the pelmet, which looks like an expensive trim from afar.

LOVE this project! Thanks for sharing, Maria!!

Don't forget to submit your pelmet box project this weekend!!

Jenny,
I can't wait to see what everyone has come up with! This is a project I have in the back of my mind for when I finally get to putting my office together in an attractive way. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas!

This is a fabulous idea - and especially pertinent to me, as I'm trying to figure out how to do one in my daughter's room. I was JUST showing my hubster your post on it (again) last night!
My biggest issue now - trying to find foam board down here in Brazil :(

The shelves in that room look like they don't have brackets under them, yet they've got heavy books. Any ideas on how they are mounted? I'd love to figure out how to do that.

Jenny, thanks again for posting the pelmets, which were both cheap and easy, my kind of combo!!! For the anonymous question, my sister hung the shelves by placing L brackets on top of them and then the books cover the hardware, so you never know! sneaky!

I'm actually making my first this weekend. I don't know that I'll get it to you in time but I just wanted to let you know that I was very inspired by the idea & its ease! Can't wait to get it done!

This is for MyLittleHappyPlace and her concern for finding foam board. I made some of these "back in the day" when we were starting out and had little money for decorating and I used cardboard. I got boxes from the recycling bin at the store and covered them with batting...they will be as sturdy as the cardboard that you use. LOVE this blog!
