A Beautiful Chalkboard

I love this project that reader Christina did with her dad.

The best part is the steps are super easy! She bought a gorgeous mirror off Craigslist and removed the mirror. She had the hardware store cut a sheet of metal to fit the frame, using the old mirror's cardboard backing as a template (great idea!). Then the cut sheet metal got a couple coats of chalkboard paint.

Isn't the result fabulous? I love the soft white color of the frame! Dreamy.

Great job, Christina and thanks for letting me post about this awesome project!

  5. Ohmygoodness! That is gorgeous! I think it's hilarious that two days ago I posted my own "made my own chalkboard" post...this one is a bit fancier and more dreamy looking though. And I love the idea of making it magnetic. :o)

    Great job, Christina!!!

Jenny (or Christina, if you're reading this), I loved to know what that wall color is, behind the chalkboard. It looks like the perfect greige.

  7. Wow Jenny thanks for all of your nice words. Truly I am honored that you would post this little project here on your most fabulous blog.

P.S. - You've especially made my Dad's day since he is actually the man power behind the project and he was referred to as my husband:-)

  8. This is such a great looking mirror! Now what I want to know (since I'm such a klutz) is how does one go about safely removing glass from a mirror??

  9. Sara,

The color of the wall is call Brushed Aluminum by Benjamin Moore and I've been very happy with it.

    Hope that helps.

  11. This is so so beautiful!!!

I wonder if you could do chalkboard paint right over the actual mirror? Maybe if you put some primer on it first?

  14. You might be able to paint right over the mirror...but unfortunately you wouldn't be able to use magnets. That's the great part about the sheet metal!

  15. Christina, I'm sorry I wrote "husband" in the post. I don't know what I was thinking - I totally knew that was your dad! My brain has not been working right lately! Sorry about that.

Thanks again for letting me post about your beautiful chalkboard!
