I love the idea. Maybe even a really bright and unexpected color would be nice!
I especially liked the piano in the second link... you can always find a bench at a local yard sale or discount store, and its lines were more architectural and distinct, so they'd stand out even better with the paint.
I am in the middle of this project right now!! I got mine for free on craigslist so the only thing I have to pay for is new legs (the current ones are metal from a school desk) and the paint!
ha ha... I started reading sarah's post about her free piano with no legs, but did not read who posted it and I though.. "hey, my sister in law has a free piano with no legs." By the way.. it totally have some paint for you, Sarah, I'll e-mail you.
I came across your site while doing some research for my own: www.coffeetableblog.com and I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a link exchange with me.
Let me know what you think, Matt Proctor mgproctor@gmail.com
Please do not paint those poor unsuspecting pianos. There is no surer way to shorten the life of the instrument. If you absolutely must do it, please have a piano tuner help you disassemble the body, as you will otherwise paint closed the panels that need to be removed for tuning, thus rendering the instrument useless as well as ridiculous.
Hey there, I'm planning to do this too once we buy our house this fall! Design Mom did it a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with the idea. Plus, Parker loves the piano so I figured it can double as a toy. :) There are so many cheap ones on Craigslist. We need to catch up once you're settled! I see a trip to the North Carolina beaches and maybe even High Point in our future. What do you think?!?! So excited to be on the same coast.
Oh my! Thank you for the piano post. Strip it or paint it, now I have some ideas for my husband's upright. If only I had a sunroom to put it in instead of the living room!
I've been wondering where you've moved! I'm guessing since the home is bigger it's not NYC... hmmm we'll have to keep guessing :) I can't wait for LGN is back in full-time action!
This is a fantastic idea. We have a piano, virtually an exact twin of that very one in the pic, and I have been wanting to paint it. So thank you for the inspiration, now I just need to find the guts to do it! Your blog is beeeutiful!!!
Ooh I love it! What a fun idea :)
ReplyDeleteYou should go to Glidden.com and choose your free can of paint for the future piano.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea!I love the light blue one in the picture :)

I think it's unique. I'd be afraid to paint our piano though. I'll let the pros handle that one!! New to your blog. Creative and cute!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'm dying to have a piano in the house to play around on but we have no space whatsoever.

ReplyDeleteLove the idea, but may want to check first with the piano experts first.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this blog!!!

What a great idea to inject a little color? Not to mention the surprise element?
ReplyDeleteL
there is something on my photoblog you might want to see.... :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I completely agree that you NEED to do this! A painted piano is so much more fun than a plain old brown one. Gtray idea!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect plan to me!
ReplyDeletePianos are fickle instruments. Won't painting it change its playablity - as in tune?
