I've been planning on doing a yard sale here in Delaware, but recently Michael came up with the great idea of a big community sale in a nearby bigger city - where bloggers and readers alike could come together to buy and/or sell their furniture, home items, or anything else home decor related (for all you Etsy sellers out there). I know that I will have at least one moving truck full of furniture to unload.
If I coordinated a large flea market type set-up in July, would you come? Where would you be willing to drive to? (please vote below or leave a comment)
If you're interested in selling, especially, I'd love to get an email from you. I need to start organizing pretty soon if I'm going to make this happen.
It would be SO amazing to get to meet some of you lovely readers!
Jenny: This is brilliant! I was planning on having a tag sale, but I'd hold off if this was going to come to fruition. If it was mid to end July, NYC suburbs, I would definitely commit.
ReplyDeletewhat a brilliant idea!!!! i would TOTALLY come as a buyer--and would love to sell things, too! :) new york city suburbs would be amazing. xoxo
ReplyDeletebrilliant idea!!!! i would totally come to a NY sale!!!
ReplyDeletep.s. Michael is brilliant
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! Have you seen the new Decorators Tag Sale that went up a couple of weeks ago? Similar idea, but online. I blogged about it here:
ReplyDeletehttp://livinglivelier.blogspot.com/2010/04/new-decorator-tag-sale.html
That could be another option for you!
Great idea - but if the organizing proves unpleasantly complicated, you might also consider is getting a space at the Brooklyn Flea (which gets a pretty high-end crowd). Check them out at www.brownstoner.com.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'm in Phila. so that would be ideal but would probably drive to any of these cities if the timing was right! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I would attend if you come to DC. But, if you don't get enough participation you should just consider driving down to the Sunday DC Flea market in Georgetown. It happens every week. There is also the Eastern Market on Capital Hill which happens every week.

What a bummer. I live in Atlanta or else I would definitely come to buy!
ReplyDeleteYes if it is in DC!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! If I lived in the near, I would for sure be there. Just did a flea market this weekend in Dallas, TX....but you have my mind mulling over a few ideas I have myself. I'm going to have to "steal" your idea for the Dallas area in July.
ReplyDeleteI would be there if it was in DC!!!
ReplyDeleteNYC burbs for sure
ReplyDeleteIf it's in DC, absolutely!!
ReplyDeleteBeing a Philly girl they are all close enough, so yes I would come! NY or Philly would be easier though.
ReplyDeleteThat would be AWESOME!!!!!!! I am sad I don't live close by - to donate goods...wish i could virtually shop all the amazing stuff!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea!! I would totally come if I lived anywhere near you :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Moving overseas this summer & have to get rid of a ton of household items. Already unloaded so much **stuff** to the Salvation Army, et, al. but not willing to hand over my scores. I've got a new Madeline Weinrib flat weave rug, designer fabric, misc furniture, blah, blah blah. July, NYC suburbs has my vote! ~ Inspired Living
ReplyDeleteHow about Boston!!! Just throwin it out there :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! You can start your own market or sell your stuff at an existing flea market. Here is an article on how to start your own flea market. And here is a big flea market directory of hundreds in the U.S., organized by state. Hope this helps! -- Michael at FleaMarketZone.com.
ReplyDeleteI live in Tenn. or I would TOTALLY come!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness....if I ever wanted to live on he East Coast, this is why!! What a dream!
ReplyDeleteI might just have to make it up to New York (if that's where you decide to have it) this July. No biggie that it's a 7 hour drive for me. Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteif only i didn't live in the south....i would love to participate :( great idea!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Jenny! I just emailed you about and added another email to your already long list. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteI would love NYC suburbs, because I'm here! I could totally help with whatever you need and would love to do some sort of BBQ afterwards for all!
It would be so much fun and my backyard is HUGE!
Oh how I wish i lived on east coast vs west boast because I would love to be a shopper at this flea market extrordinaire!
ReplyDeleteDC, DC, DC!!! I would totally come as a buyer!!
ReplyDeleteI would buy! NYC suburbs would be great, you could get people from CT, NY, I'd even drive from Boston!
ReplyDeleteWhy dont these things happen in Greece?????? :(
ReplyDeleteHope everything works out with the project!!!
OK, now I am officially sad I don't live in DC anymore :(
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea and I would try to come to Philly or D.C.
ReplyDeleteClaire
Oh this sounds amazing!! I wish I was closer so I could join in. I'll start saving now for next year!! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds wonderful! However it is so far away from me... California would be perfect! I hope you do get one together- maybe I could fly out!
ReplyDeleteCount me in! We were planning a tag sale here, but a group sale would be much more fun. Philly and NYC work for me, but DC is a bit far. I have Mongolian cabinets and a teak screen from Chiang Mai, among other things to go.
ReplyDeleteIf you had it in NYC, I'd be there in a flash. That's such a great idea!!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Alicia
What a great idea, I would totally come!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you couldn't coordinate it with the worlds longest yard sale. When I went last year they had booths you could rent and it was great, we met people from as far as California and Canada. But I would def attend a bloggers flea market for sure!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea..and I have an even better idea....move the sale to NC so I can come!!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea - could see it becoming an annual event!
ReplyDeleteMy friends and I just has a tag sale that turned out very well.
I would TOTALLY come if I could teleport across the country. I hope it comes together and we can all see the results! What a fantastic idea1
ReplyDeleteHey Jenny. I'd love to come and sell too if you did it in the Philly/Wilmington area. Let me know!
ReplyDeleteNYC suburbs please! I'll definitely be there as buyer and potentially as a seller, too!
ReplyDeleteHow about London!? x
ReplyDeletephilly.
ReplyDeleteholla.
Love it! If you decide on anywhere near NYC I have a few things to sell and would probably buy as well!
ReplyDeletefantastic idea! I would SO be there if I were closer to any of these places!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I think the idea is awesome. I just need to figure out how to get myself from chicago out to the east coast on the cheap.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I saw this image of kelly wearstler's storage space yesterday and I was in awe. Oh, to be able to spend 10 minutes there and see the amazing pieces hiding away!
CALIFORNIA!!! san diego to be exact!!
ReplyDeleteWhy the suburbs?! There's lots of places in NYC (brooklyn? long island city?) that could accommodate this where lots and lots and lots of city dwellers could come and shop!
ReplyDeleteyou are a genius. i would definitely come if it were in the nyc area! congratulations on the move.
ReplyDeleteAwwww...wish I was closer J. I can just imagine all the goodies you have to sell! ;)
ReplyDeleteDC would be fantastic! I would definitely be a buyer and also might have some things to sell! Eastern Market would be an amazing venue!
ReplyDeletei would love to help out!
ReplyDeleteperhaps i could send prints your way since i'm on the west coast!?

This is such an awesome idea! I'd love to see something like this happen all over the country! I'm in Atlanta, and there are SO many other stylish bloggers and readers in this area too (South Carolina, Tennessee, etc.) Wheels in my head are totally turning on whether this is something that could be done elsewhere. Awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteWould definitely attend a DC sale as a buyer.
ReplyDeleteaww wish this was happening near Boston!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea! I had a similar thought on a smaller scale, but would love to be apart of this extravaganza! Let me know what I need to do to help.
ReplyDeleteany of those places...i mean they aren't that far from one another..
ReplyDeletejust keep us posted...i would bring up the atlanta bloggers in a big ass uhaul or 7.
I wish I lived closer or was visiting! This would be rad!
ReplyDeleteI live in Staten Island, and I'd probably travel to any of those places. Believe it or not, I'd rather drive to Delaware than Long Island (horrible roads, terrible traffic) but if Camila of High-Heeled hosts, I may make an exception.
ReplyDeleteDon't have much to sell, though I'd be tempted to buy stuff so that I could.
I would come to any of these cities! I need some furniture for my new apartment.
ReplyDeleteI'm in if it's DC!!!
ReplyDeleteHoly CRAP! DC DC DC (actually VA). I can get a TON of people on board. I'll email you under cover but I LOVE this idea and am ALL IN!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I'm not near any of those cities, but if you organized one in NYC right around the time of the big BlogHer conference, I'll be there!
