Lounging

It makes me so happy to lay back and put my feet up when I'm watching TV or reading a book. While I love the look of an arm chair and a foot stool, nothing really beats the comfort of a chaise lounge.

You usually see chaises in bedrooms, but I think they look cool in a living space as well, as long as the room is big enough.

I'm considering one of these two vintage chaises. They are both really inexpensive, so I figure if we can't use one the living room, or our bedroom, I'll just craiglist it. Otherwise, I'll have a really fun upholstery project!

  1. I have never owned a chaise, but I just bought one for a client and now I'm obsessed. I have dreams of coffee and reading as well.

Thanks SO MUCH for getting back to me about the sofas!

  2. the yellow chaise lounge from the 1st image smiles at me just right now! I think a chaise in a living room is chic, and comfy also, so I'd definitely go for it. xoxo

  3. I've always dreamed of having a chaise, or rather the perfect spot to put one! My best friend just moved into a huge house in the burbs and her master suite (which I think is a little bigger than the condo we lived in til our first born was two!) is just begging for one.
BTW- that furniture (antique?) store looks great- where is it?

  4. Chaises do look more comfy than a chair and ottoman. Wish I had one to curl up on and catch up on my reading and naps :)

  7. We used to have a chaise. It was my and my cats all time favorite spot in the afternoon for tea and a book..with some good music.
If I had to choose between one of these, my head would explode.
I now have to go buy a chaise :)

  9. I love the one from the first image. Wish I were to chance upon a similar chaise. I am currently taking an upholstery class and while not ready yet to tackle a chaise, I certainly see one in my future.

  11. I currently have a white KARLSTAD Chaise from IKEA and I like the clean lines of it. The price is right too. I'm on it right now :) Someday I would love to upgrade to a nice one though, but for now it works.

  17. Somehow chaise lounges always seem so luxurious. It's not often something so comfy adds glamour to a room.

  21. I cannot wait to see what you do with some craigslist chaise!

We have a daybed in our living room which serves the same purpose for us - its in front of a big bay window and theres nothing better than sprawling out on there with a good book and a nice breeze!
