Save the Date

It's official - Saturday, July 31 will be the date of the big sale.

We're going to hold it in the Washington D.C. area.

Here's where you come in.

1. Does anyone know of a big, empty parking lot that we could use for the sale? We could maybe use a field, but I worry about having a problem with mud. We need LOTS of space for parking and other sellers.

2. Who wants to sell with me? I'd love an email from you.

I have reserved a 26-foot truck for that weekend to haul out all my goodies and can't wait to see what the other sellers will bring. The only catch is that I'd like to keep the wares limited to furniture and other home-related goods.

Stay tuned for more info (including a preview of what's coming on my truck). This is going to be really fun! I only wish I was coming as a buyer.

This sure sounds tempting, but my hands are tied.

  5. I will be there with bells on! Okay, maybe I'll leave the bells at home, but I'll definitely bring a few girlfriends! BTW- I have a few items I could sell, but I don't think I have enough for a whole table. Hmmm, maybe I can find a girlfriend who'd like to share a table. Will there be a fee for a table? Or will it be BYOT?

  7. I cannot wait for the preview! I too am banned from bringing anything else into this small apartment but I'm sure the preview of goods will help to temporarily disable my embargo! Cannot wait.

  8. I'm local, so wherever you end up I'll be there!!

Why don't you consider doing it at the Georgetown Flea market? It's open on Sundays and you would get a lot of extra traffic with the shoppers.

Here is the e-mail for vendor information

    manager@georgetownfleamarket.com

You could also do it at the Eastern Market on capital hill which is on Saturdays and Sundays. but Sundays is more of the furniture kind of vendors--lots of room there!

  15. I'd love to sell some wares! My question is the same as Pam's is there a table fee or BYO?

  16. What a great idea, I would love to help.

Julie is right about generating more traffic by combining with Eastern Market or Georgetown Flea market.

Eastern market is run out of the parking lot of a school. There are a lot of churches and school nearby it in Capitol Hill that might be a good option if you definitely want your own venue. Do you know how much space you're looking for yet?

  25. I will be there! I think the Eastern Market and Georgetown table costs are high but maybe a school/church in the area close proximity?

  27. I am totally there, and I have A LOT of goodies to bring, since we recently 'right-sized'.

I think it will be difficult doing georgetown and eastern market. The vendor wait-lists on both are apparently really long (says my friend who works at Eastern Market). I would suggest we talk to one of the gazillion churches on 16th street and see if we can use there space for that day.

Is there going to be a 'table space'- and can I bring my stash of gazillion gorgeous fabric that my husband says to 'get rid of'?

  32. So excited for this! I used to work at a high school in Alexandria and can see if their parking lot would be available. It wouldnt be the same type of foot traffic as being downtown, but its another option (and easily accessible). Let me know if you are interested! So glad you chose dC!!!
