We're going to hold it in the Washington D.C. area.
Here's where you come in.
1. Does anyone know of a big, empty parking lot that we could use for the sale? We could maybe use a field, but I worry about having a problem with mud. We need LOTS of space for parking and other sellers.
2. Who wants to sell with me? I'd love an email from you.
I have reserved a 26-foot truck for that weekend to haul out all my goodies and can't wait to see what the other sellers will bring. The only catch is that I'd like to keep the wares limited to furniture and other home-related goods.
Stay tuned for more info (including a preview of what's coming on my truck). This is going to be really fun! I only wish I was coming as a buyer.
I am banned from bringing another item in this house.
ReplyDeleteThis sure sounds tempting, but my hands are tied.
pve
Hope you have a great sale...I sure wish I lived nearby!
ReplyDeleteoh no! i live in teh area, but will be away for a wedding that weekend. BUMMER!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Hope you have a fabulous, sell-it-up time. Wish I could make it up there.
ReplyDeleteI will be there with bells on! Okay, maybe I'll leave the bells at home, but I'll definitely bring a few girlfriends! BTW- I have a few items I could sell, but I don't think I have enough for a whole table. Hmmm, maybe I can find a girlfriend who'd like to share a table. Will there be a fee for a table? Or will it be BYOT?
ReplyDeleteOh so much fun!!! I'm so sad thought because we'll be out of town that weekend!! eeeek
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for the preview! I too am banned from bringing anything else into this small apartment but I'm sure the preview of goods will help to temporarily disable my embargo! Cannot wait.
ReplyDeleteI'm local, so wherever you end up I'll be there!!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you consider doing it at the Georgetown Flea market? It's open on Sundays and you would get a lot of extra traffic with the shoppers.
Here is the e-mail for vendor information
manager@georgetownfleamarket.com
You could also do it at the Eastern Market on capital hill which is on Saturdays and Sundays. but Sundays is more of the furniture kind of vendors--lots of room there!
Julie
I will be there! I think the Eastern Market idea is a good one. You would get a ton of extra traffic!
ReplyDeleteAh! I would totally set up a booth but I'm at the beach. Bummer!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to go! My mom will be visiting that weekend but I'll be dragging her along!
ReplyDeletei live in the area but will be in AZ visiting family... but maybe i can convince my husband to go for me and see what he brings home. we'll see if that works because he's not to keen on me bringing in more stuff :D
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, i will be visiting girlfriends in DC that weekend! i'll have to drag them over for a look. i hope it is a success!
ReplyDeletemy brother and his wife own a winery just out of dc in virginia in the rolling hills. picturesque...and everyone could make a day of it. it couldn't hurt to ask.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to sell some wares! My question is the same as Pam's is there a table fee or BYO?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, I would love to help.
ReplyDeleteJulie is right about generating more traffic by combining with Eastern Market or Georgetown Flea market.
Eastern market is run out of the parking lot of a school. There are a lot of churches and school nearby it in Capitol Hill that might be a good option if you definitely want your own venue. Do you know how much space you're looking for yet?
I am in Northern VA and am moving cross country later this year and am working on getting rid of a number of things. I may be interested in joining in .....so would appreciate being kept in the loop as you have more details. We might be out of town that weekend though. Will know soon.
ReplyDeleteOMG - I LIVE in the DC area! Can't wait for this! (I hope I'm in town that day!)
ReplyDeleteI may or may not be banned from bringing more into our apartment, but I will still be there!!
ReplyDeleteI'm Beth of Chinoiserie Chic. I live in Alexandria and would love to hear more about the plans. Sounds great.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! NO! NO! How can this amazing sale be on a day we are not going to be near the city? Please say you meant August 28 (the last Saturday in August when it will be MUCH cooler :)
ReplyDeleteOh man!! We live right outside DC and Hubby with be home on his two weeks of leave from Afghansitan - - wonder if I can convince him that this would be quality family time? :) If I can convince him that it is, I will be there!! So excited!
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived near DC! I've always wanted to do an occassional sale....can't wait to hear how it goes!
ReplyDeleteOH - I'm sorry to miss it, we'll be out of town. I'm sure it will be a great sale!
ReplyDeleteI will be there! I think the Eastern Market and Georgetown table costs are high but maybe a school/church in the area close proximity?
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sad I'm out of town that weekend! I add my vote for the last weekend of August too!
ReplyDeleteI am totally there, and I have A LOT of goodies to bring, since we recently 'right-sized'.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be difficult doing georgetown and eastern market. The vendor wait-lists on both are apparently really long (says my friend who works at Eastern Market). I would suggest we talk to one of the gazillion churches on 16th street and see if we can use there space for that day.
Is there going to be a 'table space'- and can I bring my stash of gazillion gorgeous fabric that my husband says to 'get rid of'?

ReplyDeleteSo excited....I live in the DC area and would love to sell some of my treasures. Could be please let me know the specifics? I desperately need to downsize! I will check with some friends about a possible location available.

ReplyDeletewill be there with bells on! Any chance you will have a silver leaf dresser with you...wink wink :)
ReplyDeleteSo excited for this! I used to work at a high school in Alexandria and can see if their parking lot would be available. It wouldnt be the same type of foot traffic as being downtown, but its another option (and easily accessible). Let me know if you are interested! So glad you chose dC!!!
ReplyDeletePlace in and about DC for sale:
ReplyDeleteRFK Stadium parking lot
Redskins stadium parking lot
National cathedral parking lot
one of the universities, ie American or Trinity
Sounds awesome! I hope I can be there. Keep us posted!
ReplyDelete- Alicia
