Our entry console looks like this:
And is getting painted a shade of emerald green from the discontinued at Home Depot line of Ralph Lauren paints. I think it was called 'Polo" but I need to check. I bought the paint months ago during the big clearance sale.
It's a pretty color though and sort of reminds me of the walls in this amazing room I spied on Blair's blog.
I'll share more photos when my rug gets in and when I can corner my sweet/overworked husband and have him help me hang the ginormous mirror currently just leaning against the wall on the console. Nothing says Merry Christmas like home improvement projects.
Always love seeing pictures of what you do in YOUR home! Can't wait to see the console update!
ReplyDeleteYEAH!!!! I love it when you tell us about what's happening at home! This is going to be GORGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the lines of that console. What are you going to do with that hardware? Keep or replace?
ReplyDeleteSara, I'm just going to clean up the brass hardware. The shape is really fun - very angular. I think if I can get them really brassy yellow, they'll show up nicely against the new green paint. Don't you think?
ReplyDeleteThere are little caster feet that I need to clean up too.
I miss Ralph Lauren paints. I know they are still around, but it was just so convenient at Home Depot. boohoo. Jealous you snagged a gallon of this lovely color on clearance.

I LOVE emerald green...That console looks like it was born to be a jewel tone. Can't wait to see the pictures!
ReplyDeleteha! I've been saying the same thing...that nothing says Christmas like a few projects around the house.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the freshly painted console. Gorgeous!
Can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy and festive week :)!

i can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteI like it the way it is! Im sure it will be cool when you're done, but its pretty nice now too!
ReplyDeleteSounds like it will be so lovely. Hope you and your fam have a wonderful break!

Love the console. It will look fabulous in green! Can't wait to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteHa! Nicole, you would not say the console was nice in person. It's that nasty color of yellowed cream that they loved in the 50s and 60s. Not cute. I do love the detailing though and think I'm going to try and recreate that. We'll see what it needs after I paint tonight.
ReplyDeleteI cant wait to see what it looks like- its going to be so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how this turns out because I have a very similar color I'm using on the end tables in my master bedroom!
ReplyDeleteGenius color. I love it.
ReplyDeleteYou have the best taste in furniture. I would have walked right past that piece, but now that you have me looking at it - there is some serious potential there! Sign of a true gift! I love your blog.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished product!! I know it is going to look fabulous! Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
ReplyDeleteI painted a desk almost the same color and did a post about it awhile back. Here's the link if you're interested...http://freshquince.blogspot.com/2010/10/before-after-my-desk.html Can't wait to see the after pictures of your console...the hardware is awesome and I would keep it for sure!
ReplyDeleteThis will be LOVELY. How do you find somewhere to paint in NYC? I'm up in the upper west side and would love to refinish some of my furniture, but the thought of doing it in my living room terrifies me...!
ReplyDeleteI painted my kitchen Ralph Lauren Polo Green, and the results were wonderful. I love how it changes color in the light.
