Frameless Mirrors

Remember this mirror on mirror project from my parents' bedroom suite redo? The basic idea was we used an approaching ridiculous number of 3M Picture Hanging Strips to hang these frameless IKEA mirrors on top of their bathroom's basic vanity mirror.

If you're looking to tackle this project in your house, check out the selection of pretty inexpensive frameless mirrors from this eBay seller.

Scalloped

Octagon

Arched Louis Phillipe style

Also totally diggin this almost venetian style mirror ($69) from Lowes.

  3. That looks great! I never thought of that...a great way to add interest to a huge mirror (like the mirrored closet doors in our master bath!).

  6. Perfect timing! I am doing something similar to what you did in your old entry (only with paint, instead of top-taping the walls with vellum tape) and I need a little (subtle!) sparkle in there now!

  7. Fun look, love that. Velcro works better than 3M stickies, FYI!

  8. I really want to do this idea in our second bath but I'm afraid the steam would weaken the strips over time. So I'm guessing your mom hasn't had any trouble though so I should try it!

  9. I have this very 80's esque wall of mirrors above the chair rail in the dining space of my condo. It's the wall that faces you when you walk through the front door. I've been trying to come up with a way to update it, but hanging my huge framed mirror on top of it seemed like it might require a ceiling plate and be a nightmare of a project. Do you think these mirrors would provide an updated look?

  10. How many strips did this actually take? Did you leave the tiny pull taps exposed in anyway to make it easy to remove? How has it held up at your moms house?

  11. Libby - I'd definitley give this project a try. I'm doing it in our apartment too.

Anon - the mirrors have held for more than a year without a single problem. I think we used about six strips per mirror.

I have the mirror from lowes in our bathroom for our beauty salon, it's totally gorgeous! Love your project for your parent's bathroom, very inventive.

  14. will that detach easily? I ask because I'm a renter and would love to spruce up my mirrors, but I'd have to take it with me when I go!

  16. I've been wanting to do this in my bathroom ever since I saw your post of your parent's remodel.

I've been wondering whether they are still sticking up there after all this time.
