I just finished the coolest DIY project using the
IKEA Maskros. I can't wait to share the photos and tutorial with you very soon (probably Monday)!
In the meantime, isn't
Amy Butler's gold spray painted version so great? Apartment Therapy did a pretty amazing whole-house tour
here.
I love it painted gold!!! A wonderful idea!!!

ReplyDeleteI didn't realize it was a gold spray prainted Ikea chandelier! I saw that house tour, it's beautiful, very peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI love this chandy and really wanted to use it in my girls' rooms, so I made a trip to IKEA and low and behold, this will only take a 40 W bulb. Boo. Hiss. Had to settle for the Leran, which I still like, but I wish these fab chandys could handle more wattage...assuming it's the paper flowers? Can't wait to see what you've done with this!
ReplyDeleteSara - my Maskros chandelier takes a 75 watt bulb (per the instructions on the box). It's actually pretty bright!
ReplyDeleteThe gold is really nice. I really like that living room and all the furniture in it!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so cool! I want the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteI never noticed that the first time I saw it. It looks like it was MEANT to be painted. I love it! I can't wait to see your makeover, this may be the first time I'll be excited for a monday!
ReplyDeletelove it! i just got to meet amy butler on sunday at quilt market...so fun to see her home! and i might have to try to find a place for that chandelier...
ReplyDeleteIt works so well with the color of her stone fireplace. The Young House Love folks have used it as well.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your! I'm still lusting after your island...
I never liked the Maskros much 'til I saw it painted...can't wait to see your DIY, I'm sure it'll be fab!
ReplyDeletei searched and searched and searched and searched and searched for DIY instructions to do this after i saw the house tour. so, natch, i can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI love the gold painting... but what a tease about what you did :)
ReplyDeleteThe gold is about a thousand times better than the white! Especially hung high enough, it looks so glamorous!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what your project is!
Looks amazing! I can't wait for your tutorial!

ReplyDeleteOh wow! That looks amazing in gold. It looks less like Ikea and much more expensive!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteMay I ask a question on a different note?
Five girlfriends and I have decided to leave our children at home and travel for a weekend to New York. We can't believe it! I was wondering if you or your blog readers have any suggestions about great locations or hotels to stay. Several of us have never been to New York so we are over the moon. Now if only the MW sample sale was still on in July:) Hope this is OK to ask an off topic question.
oh my gosh!!! I just did a post today about this exact chandelier!! I just posted your link so everyone can stay tuned to find out how you make it! YAY!!!

Love it! We're re-doing some light fixtures in our beach house and need to do it inexpensively. I never even thought of Ikea. That chandelier is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI just purchased this pendant for a client and I never thought to paint it in a metallic paint. I may have to convince my client for a little DIY this weekend! Thanks for the inspiration. Chic Rooms
ReplyDeleteI'm all over painting anything gold. And that house tour was pretty amazing - I love how we see more oversized cushions and floor pillows nowadays.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the chadelier and love the basket of driftwood even more. Would have been perfect for the post I just posted today! Glad to discover your blog!
ReplyDeleteI completely HATED that light fixture, but painting it gold gives it such a different look. One of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments.
ReplyDeleteI too LOVE the gold version in AB's house- gorgeous! I can't wait to see results of your project!
ReplyDeleteJenny so gorgeous, every smart!!

To be honest this light just did nought for me but man spray it gold and put in that room and it works! x
ReplyDeleteI starting falling for the chandelier after seeing it on YHL. To be honest, I don't like the gold. I do however like the idea of painting it, I'd go with silver though.
ReplyDeleteI love this chandelier and plan to order one for my guest room. Thanks for sharing!
