She was inspired by this chevron rug DIY project and used a perfect coral pink color. The rug is for her daughter's newly redecorated big girl room. I love the Kristen eyeballed the taping! She wanted this to be a quick project and sort of liked that imperfectly-perfect look (especially for a kids room).
You're going to want to check out how adorable this little girl's room turned out. That bed (and bedding)! That chaise! Kristen embraces all things vintage and knows *just* how to update them with paint and fabrics. I feel like this space has so much more soul than a room filled with catalog furniture!
I'm sure you'll want to know just like I did - the wall color is Iced Apricot by Valspar. Definitely adding that one to the paint color arsenal! This elusive perfectly peachy pink color is hard to nail down!
Gorgeous job as always, Kristen! Thanks for sharing!
If you have a room submission for LGN, please email jenny at jennykomenda dot com. Thanks!

I love how watercolor-y the rug looks. Seems to keep the pink from being overly sweet as well.
ReplyDeleteThat room is a fantastic example of of not making a kid's room too kid-y.The peachy pink is great.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it is perfect. I love the mix of patterns and pops of green and that all the pinks are not matchy matchy! Great job.

ReplyDeleteWow, I'm so in awe of people who are this visually creative. The room looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's a really great room - vintage without feeling old-fashioned. I like what another commenter (Emily) said about the rug looking watercolor-y. The while room looks like a beautiful water-colored painting. Where did she find that amazing bed?
ReplyDeleteWow that room is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love the duvet and the elephant!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable room! I've been hunting for a orange and white chevron rug for my boys' room and now I know what to do! Thanks for sharing, Cynthia

ReplyDeleteThank you for all the sweet comments on Cici's room. I have had so much fun working on it :) I have gotten a couple of the same questions and realized I should have included this info in the post :)
ReplyDeleteScalloped Curtains - These are actually not curtains, they are matelasse bed coverlets that I bought from Dillards several years ago. I first used matelasse coverlets in Cici's nursery. I was on the hunt for some thick long white curtains and then had a lightbulb moment that what I was looking for was the same as a coverlet. I saved some money, bought 2 coverlets and then had them trimmed in black satin ribbon. I also had these lined with blackout lining. They are so thick though, you may not actually need the lining. When we moved into our new house I needed another pair since she had two windows. I didn't even bother having these trimmed in black, just tied satin ribbon bows to the top of the panels. I hung all of these with clips. Here is a link to the panels trimmed in black. These will be making the move to the baby's room in the next few weeks.

Elephant Pillow - How cute is this? I ordered from http://www.etsy.com/shop/sewtina. Tina was so great to work with and she has wonderful fabric choices. Cici helped me design it and the back of the elephant says "Mommy loves Cici". I highly recommend Tina's work.
Bed- The bed was a Craigslist find. I had to repaint the whole thing because the paint was chipping so badly. I was initially worried about lead paint so I did a lead paint test kit on it. It tested negative for lead so I sanded it as much as I could and then spray painted with Krylon since it is non- toxic when dry. I will never ever attempt to paint a wicker piece that big again. Its like painting a wet sponge.
Please feel free to ask me any other questions! Have a great day!
Kristen
