Accent Chairs for the Win!

We've been working on a client's living room where a lot of the big pieces were neutral choices (the sofa, the rugs, the tables, the consoles, the lighting and mirrors - all neutral colors). In the first phase of the install we were all feeling good, but had to keep giving each other pep talks about how it would all look much better after the second more colorful layer goes on. :)

We've since added colorful pillows, art, lamps, and a great pair of side chairs inspired by this Jeffrey Bilhuber photo. Let me tell you - those chairs completely transformed my client's room! (so excited to get this project photographed)

If you're on a limited budget and can only change up parts of your living room, I would invest in some new pillows for your sofa (here are some color/pattern ideas) and a new chair or two. These are some easily available and affordable options:

  5. I am a total fan of using neutrals with a bold pop of color thrown in. In my own living room I have neutral colors, greens,creams and warm browns. What makes the room however is my bold rasberry velvet chair I picked up at Crate and Barrel a few years ago. LOL I had to sell husband on my "barney" pink chair but even he loves it now.Looking forwad to seeing the room you have just completed.

  6. I have a pair of Original Dux Modern Chairs that need reupholstered, but they are in fantastic shape. I found reupholstered ones online for $3500.

  7. My house is also all in neutrals with bold pops and I love it. Orange sofa, yellow dresser, cobalt blue and kelly green chair. I'm a chair fanatic too and one of my all time favorites, although done and done again, is Anthro's Astrid chair. Perfect for a modern and traditional space, which I love to walk the tightrope on.

  12. I love accent chairs. I wish I had an extra room for just chairs that I could switch out whever I felt like it. Ha! Really looking forward to seeing more pictures of your home. That "teaser" picture of the kitchen the other day is killing me!
