So stinking cute! Though, I am having a hard time with the fact that you are characterizing your work output as low productivity. I think you are hitting it out of the park. You have me excited for preschool, too. I can't wait to see what you will do with your time.
So sweet! Now I want a standard poodle!! Thank you for always posting in the morning...checking your blog first thing along with my coffee is just how I roll and I look so forward to it! Have a great weekend, too ;)
There is absolutely NOTHING like the love of a dog. When my son accidentally slammed my daughter's hand in the car door the other evening, our dog alerted us to that fact. When he saw her, he licked her hand. He just knew that she was in pain. Good for you for allowing your children to grow up with a dog. They'll be better people for it. =)
So, so cute! We just got a puppy and I can't wait for her to be big enough to be loved on by our daughter! Right now her favorite game is "nibble" - ouch!
Love, Love, Love. Grew up with a standard poodle who was so patient and awesome, great for kids (even though "horsey" was not her favorite game). Thanks for the adorable posting.
I have a dog-related question. I love natural texture rugs like the one you have in your living room (with the larger weave), but we're getting a dog and I'm worried that she'll destroy anything with that large of a weave. Have you had any trouble with your rug with Linus?
Your home (and dog and children!) are beautiful. Thanks for all the great ideas!
I bought the jute at ABC Clearance basement. I did a couple of posts about it if you search for jute in my (now working!) search bar.
I need to do an updated post because I have new thoughts on jute rugs with pets in the house. My thought now is: NEVER. It's just a bad idea with pets. My girls are pretty clean, so I never had a problem with stains from them.
But Linus has thrown up on it twice now and it required HOURS of soaking and scrubbing and vacuuming to get the gross out. It's just not worth it. We'll be getting rid of the jute soon, I think, just so I don't have to deal with that again.
Best to stick with a wool or synthetic pile that is easier to clean when accidents happen. Persians are always and forever a favorite for me. Completely stain and kid-proof if you buy something with a lot of pattern especially.
I absolutely adore this post! We had a standard poodle named Chrystal (my son, age 6 at the time, wanted to name her after a mineral, and came up with Chrystal). Anyway, she died 13 years later after being my constant and loyal companion. She looked identical in coloring to your Linus. Seeing Linus and Evie together took me back in time to thoughts of happy days with Chrystal. Standards are the most amazing dogs. Your Evie is so precious.
What a day brightener these photos are! Thank you. Do you happen to remember where you got your daughter's dress? I'd like to find one in that color for my little one, as well.
Jenny - just saw your post on the throwing up problem. I had a Stark durrie type rug and Chrystal threw up on it after eating something orange (ugh!) twice. So I changed to a seagrass rug - what was I thinking? That was ruined too! The solution was, no rug as long as Crystal was with us. Not a big deal.
You should be fine with the synthetic or wool pile you are thinking about.
Jodi - Chrystal sounds like a dear! Isn't it crazy how much dogs become a real part of your family? I can't imagine our home without Linus now :)
And about the throw up - I guess dogs just have sensitive gag reflexes? At least that's what the vet (and the internet) said. So, I'm thinking less rugs is the way to go for now! You're so right! It's a pretty look anyway, so why not. :)
Jenny, if you struggle with cleaning throw-ups and accidents by Linus on your carpet/rug, you MUST get a Bissell SpotBot for pets. After losing our security deposit a couple times from our dogs' accidents at previous rentals. We got a SpotBot, I highly recommend it: it saves time, saves the aggrevation, and most importantly, it will save your carpet/rug!
So this is a bit of a random comment, but on the topic of dogs...and then....dog beds (which you were not blogging about, but, here I go anyway...), now that you are a dog owner you should check out Molly Mutt dog duvet covers. Every dog is different, but for our pup, I usually buy an x-large cheapo dog bed at Petco for $20, and then remove the cover just to use the inside stuffing. Then, I buy a "dog duvet" from Molly Mutt (usually in a smaller size so that it stays nice and fluffy). Molly Mutt make duvets in outdoor fabric, prints, solids, and they all have nice piping AND (I think) they are really well priced versus high end dog beds that come in nice fabrics but are crazy expensive.
friends with four legs, unconditional love.

Here, have a feather:
ReplyDeleteEvie's dress is from American Apparel. We have it in like four or five colors. They're super soft and they wash well.

Absolutely precious. There's something special about a child's relationship with their dog. This post made my day. I am all smiles!
ReplyDeleteOMG adorable.

ReplyDeleteP.S. DYING over the adorableness in the photos. They are both perfection.
ReplyDeleteWhile I really love your design and DYI posts, this one is hands down my favorite. I keep coming back to look at the cuties and the love. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI like your new photo! We have our Emmett & feel the same way. Dog love is new to our family, but it runs deep.
