Well, actually, it is a used range. The landlord gave us money to replace the ancient stove. Not enough to buy a new Viking (the range I'd been dreaming of for years), but I was happy to find this one in perfect used condition. It had been used in a summer house for a few years, and had been recently professionally serviced. We paid $1000 for it, but the landlord picked up most of the bill, so it was a total score. Happiness all around!
PS Tonight I'm putting the last coat of paint on the cabinets (you can see a little sneak peek above)!
I can't wait to see the final product!! Happy you and your family have been safe from the dangers of the storm! Sending love from Canada!

ReplyDeleteAs a Mississippi girl and Mississippi State University Alum... it makes me so happy to see that you chose a viking! (the man who started viking appliances went to Mississippi State, and manufactures them in Mississippi delta!) If your ever in Mississippi they offer amazing cooking classes!!!

ReplyDeleteJenny, I know you're probably going to write a book about your ability to DIY design, etc; but seriously, you should write a book on how you find the greatest deals! How do you do it? You are probably the most resourceful person I have ever known (even though I don't know you)!! :) My dream one day too is to own a viking range!
ReplyDeleteamazing! - looks so much better!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the cabinets! It already looks much improved!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it! Can you also let us know if/how you restored the countertop? I have similar ones that look a lot like yours in the "before" picture. I'd love to attack some of the burn and rust marks.
ReplyDeletesoooooo jealous....i can't wait to see that kitchen...love the color!!!
ReplyDeleteWe scored a used Five-Star range from CL for our recent kitchen reno. Lucky find!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Viking! They are made in my home state of Mississippi!
ReplyDeleteHUGE fan of your blog!
Love your new range. I've had Viking ranges and ovens for almost 20 years and they have held up perfectly under my intense cooking. In all those years, we've only had to service the oven once to fix the broiler pilot light. Your Viking should hold up well especially since it's been tuned up.
ReplyDeleteNow I can't say the same for Viking refridgerators or dishwashers. You couldn't pay me to buy either ever again. I'm patiently waiting for my Viking fridge to die so I can get a different one.
I cannot wait to see the full after shots of the cabinets! They look fantastic in this little sneak peek!
ReplyDeleteIts going to be beautiful. Cant wait for the big reveal!

ReplyDeleteSo cool you were able to find one! It looks like it's in great condition. Can't wait to see the finished kitchen :)
ReplyDeletestop teasing!!! need.to.see.the.cabinets!!!!
ReplyDeleteThese cabinets look so awesome. It is very inspiring to see you finding a way to do most all this work yourself not just waiting around for your husband or someone else to do it for you. A great lesson thank you!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you're going to share the name of the paint color you used for your lower cabinets if you haven't already. It looks like the perfect bluegreygreen shade. Can't wait to see the whole kitchen completed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Can't wait to see the whole kitchen. Love what I see so far! Did you do something to the knobs on that Viking or did it come that way? Looks great!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Can not wait to see the whole enchilada.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying, DYING, to see the cabinet "after"!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the reveal!! Am I correct in thinking you guys are renters? Does the landlord give you a rent break because of all of the improvements you make in the space? Your work is wonderful!
