I'm working on a really fun nursery project that needs some cool art that's sort of on the crazier side. I wish we had the right wall space to work with
these Macy's Day Parade photos from the 40s and 50s.
Wouldn't these be amazing blown up really, really huge with a simple, modern frame?
My $4 print project would totally do the trick!
Loving those "vintage" photos from the Macy's Day Parade. So fun to see how different things are today.
ReplyDeletegreat idea! Also, can you share the color of that desk/chest of drawers in the bottom photo! I want to paint an piece of furniture that exact color!
ReplyDeleteThose are so incredible! Totally genius idea!!
ReplyDeleteAre these allowed to be printed? Or are they available to be purchased somewhere? They're fun!
ReplyDeleteTasha - it's BEHR's Billiard's Table. Love that color so much!
ReplyDeleteMe, Rachel: Anything can be printed for personal use. As long as you don't sell the prints, there's no issue at all. Also, these are not quite old enough, but if the image is more than 100 years old, the copyright expires and the image can be printed and sold commercially.

I used your $4 print tip for new art in our bedroom just last week! http://projectpalermo.com/2013/05/20/bedroom-makeover/
ReplyDeleteWow, what fantastic images! I love these!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. That's an amazing idea! Wow!
ReplyDeleteJenny - What color did you use on that dresser in the last image? Love it and the idea for the Macy's images!

If you go to the lobby of the Herald Towers (on 34th and Broadway where Gap is) has the Macy's parade images framed.
ReplyDeleteSo cute.
Great pictures! Super fun!
ReplyDeleteActually, if you aren't the photographer, I don't think you can print them for your own personal use without permission unless the copyright is expired. I don't understand why people don't respect photographers' rights as artists.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, Jenny, but give an artist his due.
I love the pictures, but I would have been terrified of them as a kid....my favorite characters hung by strings by shadowy-looking men....although I had a wild imagination and was scared of most things.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog :)
