My first blog visit of the day and what a treat! The images you chose are stunning and the art pieces are fabulous. The first one looks like it may be a vintage piece, but that is just a guess. What a great mix you chose. Thank you for starting my day with inspiration!
I really love this! I have been thinking about finding some big artwork to put on a blank wall. Still not sure what but thanks for the ideas! MODELmumma
Loving the red and white watercolor-esque "Cloud" painting. I've been looking for inspiration for a DIY for a huge art piece to go above my sofa. This might be it!
have you seen pure style home's dining room? she has a phenomenal dining room! with a HUGE piece of art, but she's never disclosed what it is...i bet she would for you ;) link to the dining room pic:
You should buy an oversized canvas and let your girls go crazy with it. Cheap AND Beautiful (My aunt framed a portrait my cousin painted of her when he was 5, and people used to comment on how amazing it was she had a Picasso!)
I don't recognize the artist in the first picture, but in the 4th photo (Phillip Gorrivan), the big picture above the fireplace is of two apartment buildings in downtown Chicago that we fondly call the "corncob buildings". Of all the pictures I've seen of this building, this one is the most astounding!
The print in the room designed by Katie is Kiki Smith. You should also look at prints by Kara Walker. Let me know if you need help. I used to work for Sikkema Jenkins & Co. the gallery that represents Kara Walker, before I had my baby. xo
Big art really defines a room. That room by Miles Redd is in a house in Atlanta - I was able to see it in person, and it makes the room.
I have a lot of small art - less than 30x30 - and a lot of big mirrors. Big art can be really expensive! I recently saw a painting that really spoke to me, but it was only 30x30 so I passed on it because I need to get something big for my next art purchase - I have two walls in the new house that really need big art.
So happy to come across this post. I just hung a huge piece of art in my living room and I was afraid it was too big. But these look great, so mine must too. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
Love it. Mine is just the opposite...more traditional realism in the artwork and ultra modern furnishings - they both work. I really enjoyed the art as I am a traditional painter and the change to modern is nice.
forget art, i want that brown gingham wallpaper in the 3rd photo!
ReplyDeleteI am working on some big art now.
ReplyDeleteLove this inspiration.

Every one of them is fantastic! I've always loved large pieces.

ReplyDeleteFabulous examples! I once had a client who had a painting that nearly filled one wall in a den, and the impact was perfect. Janell

ReplyDeleteLarge art is never cheap, but I think prints from 20x200 can be reasonable for the size.
ReplyDeleteLove it too! I have a few pieces in my house that I adore and are large. Great examples you have here.

PS - I recently inquired about purchasing an Elliot Puckette painting (the red painting in this post is by her), and her big paintings are 45k and up!
