This
IKEA curtain rod is a favorite of mine. It's less than $30 and looks great as is in a brushed nickel finish, but I especially love to paint it with
Rustoleum's Metallic spray paint in brass (not gold! too pink).
You can pick up a bag of
inexpensive rings to also paint while you're picking up the Rustoleum at Home Depot.
Spray paint can do wonders! Great tips.
ReplyDeleteJenny,
ReplyDeleteIkea is such a great resource if you are creative. Thanks for the curtain rod tip. I love your blog and try to check it as often as possible. I have 3 little girls ages 1, 3, and 5...possibly the same as yours??? So time is limited which I am sure you know :)
If you ever need to escape the city on a hot summer day let me know. We live in the Catskills (under 2 hrs from the city) in an area often called the "unHamptons", haha...Your welcome to spend the day in the country with us and have a triple playdate.
Best,
Alana
Just wondering how the spray paint holds up with all the movement of the rings? Any chipping? Do you lacquer the rod/rings too?
ReplyDeleteI love IKEA :o)
ReplyDeleteDid you ever share the finsihed project of this? I hope I didn't miss it! I bet it is beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI dream of the day Ikea comes to Birmingham!
ReplyDeleteYes agreed, the brass is a great color it gives it a natural brass look so it doesn't look like you sprayed painted it. I use it a lot! And I've also done my curtain rods.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Jenny. I am in need of a simple but stylish curtain rod for our master bedroom, I think this might be it. It looks so much more expensive.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenny, do you know where I can get a curtain rod for a 120" window for cheap? Does Ikea carry them that cheap?
ReplyDeleteGREAT tip! THanks so much!

I'm with Lindsey Tollefson, looking for 120" rod on the cheap! I have a 92 year old home with 22 windows on the first floor...4 of which need 120" rods. Any resources??
ReplyDeleteI currently have a DIY project seen on a show, using large eyelet screws, thick gauge wire and thermal panels that I punched large grommets in. They were pretty cool at first but are now seriously starting to sag....they need some serious attention!!
This is the first time I have responded to your blog, I love it!! Keep it up! :)
