I got a little preview yesterday of the Madeline Weinrib sample sale happening at ABC today through next Monday. There were TONS of great rugs, pillows and fabrics.
My little Gracie Girl, who is not yet six and who has lost FOUR teeth in the past two months (!!!), was my shopping partner in crime. We made a little mommy/daughter date of the outing and indulged in Shake Shack afterwards.
I picked out a couple pillows and rugs for clients and Grace tried her best to convince me on the pink and red chevron tote (close, but no cigar).
Instead I used my motherly powers of persuasion to get G to fall in love with this fun dhurrie. I've had my eye on the design for a while now and there was only one of these at the sale. It just happened to be the exact size I needed for the girls room, so we'll just say it was fate and that I couldn't say no. Plus, it's called the Jellybaby Rug. I mean, come on. So cute.
If you're in the city, stop by the sale ASAP - it's worth it! If you're not local, try giving Rick, who is the manager of the clearance basement at ABC, a call and tell him I sent you. They are so helpful and are always willing to ship to other states.
(Heaven on earth, I say...)
Oh my goodness- this looks like the best mommy/daughter date ever!!! I'm dying over all the pillows! Thanks for sharing!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! The variety of fabrics and colors is fantastic - what a gem - Jealous of your shopping adventure!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go! I have two MW rugs and love them both.
ReplyDeleteahhh i'm so jealous! i wish i were able to hop over and enjoy the sample sale! i desperately need a rug for my bedroom.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh everything looks fantastic!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI see SO many things that I want in all of those pictures!!! I am going to be in NY this weekend and first part of next week and am going to make this a must stop! Can you suggest more places to visit that are friendly on the wallet and pretty for the home?
ReplyDeleteI especially love the JellyBaby rug! Would love to find a similar fabric to make some pillows out of it for my baby girl transitioning into a big girl room!
So fun! I want to jump into that bin of pillows! (Also, a room designed like your adorable daughter's style -how cute is she!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat! I would be in huge trouble there. That is a great pic of the two of you!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! What was the price range on the pillows?
ReplyDeletethis makes me super happy that I'm heading up to NY on Friday. Now I simply must stop by!!
ReplyDeletePS- Grace is too cute :)
I'll take one of each please.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. I wish I lived in New York. Everything looks AMAZING!!
ReplyDeleteOh my word...heaven on earth indeed! I would have just slept there in the beauty of it all! How on earth did you not go home with everything. Forget paying for it, grab and run!!!!! JK of course:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous little shopping partner you have, Jenny! Grace is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see that you were finally united with your dream MW rug--"Jellybaby" is one of my favorites. Your girls will love it!
Thanks, guys! We're really excited about the rug! And the sale was pretty amazing. It was like a who's who of decorators down there! I recognized a lot of faces from Elle Decor and House Beautiful. Pretty fancy.
ReplyDeleteangeinthecountry: It took every ounce of self control in Grace's little body to not dive into that huge pool of pillows! I was pretty tempted myself.
Anon- The pillows were probably the biggest disappointment of the day for me. I was hoping to come and totally clean them out, but they were pricey - most in the $150-$350 range. A significant savings on the retail price, but still not a super easy purchase. I really, really wanted the mauvey/rose silk ikat in the front there. I think that one was $250, so I passed and got the rug for us instead.
I want to jump right in and roll around in all that textile goodness. The designs are fabulous. Jellybaby looks perfect for a girls room.
ReplyDeleteHeaven on earth is right! All those colours in one space, just amazing.

I have been wanting the jellybaby Fore, Like Ever! Didn't used to come in a dhurrie, and I couldn't afford the wool version. Spotted it in Lotta Jansdotter's place ages ago.
ReplyDeleteLucky little girlies!
Plus, this makes me miss NYC.
Wowza! That IS a whole lot of textile goodness (and a most adorable daughter).
ReplyDeleteThe woman in the background of the second picture looks an awful lot like Genevieve Gorder's project manager/assistant. I need to stop watching so much HGTV...
I need that tote!!! How much was it?
ReplyDeleteSuzanne - the totes were $89, but they're probably gone by now. This was the last of the pink and red zigzag pattern.

Wow!! What a great sale! Wish I lived closer so that I could take advantage of the beautiful rugs and the sale. Beautiful photo of you and your daughter.
ReplyDeleteFirst - your daughter is an adorable bundle of cuteness with a braid. Second, I think I would wet myself if I was surrounded with all those rugs and textiles. These are the moments I am happy I don't live in NYC cause I would be homeless in a box - albeit a chic box.
ReplyDeleteJenny - thanks so much for posting this. I had been deciding if it was worth driving into the city today to go to it and now, after seeing your pictures, I think I will have to pack up all the kids and go. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteShe is so precious!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick for your girl's room. Your daughter is adorable...what a fun shopping partner.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time! I love pretty much EVERY rug and pillow in your post. I also love Gracie's toothless smile and the cute mommy/daughter picture! So cute!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on the pillow prices! I'm glad to save myself a trip because seeing all those would be torture.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any good alternatives for similar pillows or maybe even similar to john robshaw?
Oh, I am so jealous. Absolute heaven, indeed! And that rug is precious!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I had no idea it looked like THAT! I wanna be there! And you two are soo adorable!

Ugh! It almost pains me to see these photos. There is usually little that can inspire me to live in NYC, but this will do it! That and Brimfield.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful choice, by the way. I'd have a hard time saying no to everything that would fit in my car!
Love the rug you chose. And oh how I miss my NYC! Live in Vancouver now and dream of Manhattan in spring, so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am decorating my daughter's room and today's post dealt with an empty wall. Please help with your ideas. Please visit: http://ordermatters.com/blog/
Thanks.
I want it all!!!!
ReplyDeleteHeaven On Earth Indeed!!

Thanks for the explanation - I thought I was living "Groundhog's Day" It all makes sense now! Anyways, I think you should have listened to Gracie and gotten the chevron tote! To cute!
ReplyDeleteWow--those are wonderful patterns, BUT I avoid dhurrie rugs like the plague. They tend to absorb dirt quickly and are difficult to clean. They are the sirens of decorating, love them, love the look, buy them--but ultimately, they need to be cleaned. They never look as good as they do in the store. I brought back a few dhurries when I was in Istanbul. I know that the day of reckoning is coming.
ReplyDeleteYou're daughter is too cute for words! Looks like my dream day....I'm in MA and close enough to visit the store, but never have time.....jealous!
ReplyDeleteStacy
What an experience! The rug you scored is so wonderful and you and your daughter are so pretty! : )
ReplyDeleteThe rug you chose is so pretty! Such great patterns. I agree what a great experience.

I love the mom and daughter shopping outing! Can you say approx. how much a pillow costs at the sale? Just want to see if I am even in the ballpark before calling ABC...
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute rug!!! And some cute ladies too ;-) Cant wait to see the final product!!
ReplyDeleteOmgosh, I would have died to see this sale. Calif gal, too far away. I did a post yesterday on a great dhurrie I purchased from Wisteria at Ikea prices. It looks very much like MW cotton striped rug. I got a steal at 70% come by and see it on my post!!!! Much cheaper that 1-2 thousand dollars!! I am soooo excited!! Kathysue
