Mint and Cobalt

Do you ever look at a piece of clothing and wonder why (WHY?!) don't we make home fabrics in colors and patterns as gorgeous and fresh as fashion fabrics?

Today I am shopping for a fabric or bedding for a client's master that looks just like this Rebecca Taylor skirt.


I'm going to swing by ABC to see if there is anything new for me on the bedding floor. And speaking of ABC, who's joining me for the Madeline Weinrib sample sale this week? 40-70% off this Thursday through Monday, in the clearance basement at 881 Broadway.

    I can never find upholstery or bedding fabrics as nice as fashion ones. I'm glad to know it's not just my little city! I often use fashion fabrics on cushions and low wear things though...loving the fabrics I found at my local fabric store recently - they remind me of the fabric for your cushions http://mydesignethos.blogspot.com/2011/05/im-in-love-with-floral-fabrics.html.

    Oh how I wish I was in NYC. I'm dying to get a MW rug, DYING! About fabrics, I think that all the time. Or I think, why can't this curtain/wallpaper/stationary be a home fabric?!

    I long for more fabric choices too. Especially inexpensive ones in more colorful tones. Are you listening home fabrics? I would love, love, love to join you for a sale. If only I lived in NYC...

    I agree! The fabric that i use to sew my clothes with would be great for home decor also.

    Thank you!!! We just moved and our master has cobalt wallpaper with a tiny detail on it, it's livable (we are trying to be selective about what we repaint) but you just changed everything :) My favorite curtains that I had no idea where to put are a mint damask. You are the best!!

    I totally agree! I'm always drawn to clothes that would make great upholstery or pillows. And then I buy a shirt that doesn't look good on me just because I love the fabric!

    I work in the fashion industry, and every day i see the most stunning fabrics that need to be for home decor. I have a few yards that i want to use for pillows, they just are really delicate, and need to be backed.... i totally know what you mean!
