I know it's not everyone's bag, so I thought I would post some images of vintage or vintage-inspired floral fabrics used in big and small ways in different rooms. It's not always overly feminine.
If you like your florals loud and proud, try using them on some bigger projects, like upholstery, drapes or a skirted table:

That Kate Spade photo is so beautiful. I could live there. I love florals too...I've got a big print going on in the middle of my livihttp://classiccampbell.blogspot.com/2009/11/buttons-in-place.htmlng room...
ReplyDeleteMy parents owned this hideous floral pattern living room set, and I think that left me permanently scarred. But I do like some of those photos, especially the very last one. My friend recently decided to reupholster some wingback chairs in a floral fabric, and I think I'll find the finished product palatable. She's using this fabric: http://www.interiormall.com/cat/nsample.asp?ID=132296&t=801

ReplyDeleteI think I am a very fussy floral appreciater, but the covered bedhead, the lamp and the little lounge chair were stunning... just my cup of tea!

ReplyDeletehi am featuring your works on my blog, i should've done it sooner, i think you're really talented :)
ReplyDeleteI love the green floral chairs in the first picture! Love a big floral print on a sofa or chair rather than keeping it safe with a floral pillow.
ReplyDeleteI like floral as well. I like mixing styles and floral in a modern space is always a nice contrast.
ReplyDeletei have some pretty floral fabric that has been stashed away in my closet....i secretly and praying that i will have a girl (sometime in the future) so that i can use it...b/c my hsband has vetoed it out in our bedroom! thanks for all the inspiration of where i may be able to insert it without making it too girly!
ReplyDeletelove florals too, but generally have a hard time living with pattern for too long. they also usually get vetoed by the manly-man I share my house with. fun to look though!
ReplyDeleteif you have yards and yards of that fabric on your header... then I WANT it!!!!! I Locw florals as long as they have either a slight vintage feel or contemporary colors... its the only way I can get those 80's florals out of my head!! tlhobg@aol.com

ReplyDeletei particularly love those pillows from style court.
I want to be Maria Von Trapp and wear those ABT drapes. :-)
ReplyDeleteLarge print florals are the best! I'm using a fun coral colored one in my eldest daughters room redo right now. I thought it would be hard to sell her on it but it turns out, she's a floral girl too. Yeah!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and fresh, a perfect post for the beginning of spring!
ReplyDeleteoh man, what a great post! i didn't even realize it was florals, and i'm not even a big ole floral fan. nice work!
ReplyDeleteFunny you blogged about this... I just added a floral to my bedroom blinds and I'm ecstatic with how it turned out... Can't wait to see your stash.
