Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for all the well-wishes, comments, tweets, texts, emails and phone calls. I feel surrounded by your love and support.
I am home now, kissing and holding my little ones, feeling so thankful things didn't turn out worse then they did. I'm hoping once I'm recovered I can just forget about this whole experience! Not fun. I will say this though - Please, please, please check and see that you are up to date on your Tdap vaccination. I thought I was close to current, so didn't worry about it when I was scraped by a rusty fence recently. Take my word for it that you never want to experience Tetanus, and of course we want to protect little ones from Pertussis, which is also covered by the vaccination.
I've got a back log of projects I haven't posted about yet that I'll be sharing next week while I'm recovering, so please come back Monday for regularly scheduled posting.
Thank you again. Big hugs to you all.
xoxo
Jenny, phew, so glad you're home and recovering. Going to check my vaccinations right now!!

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are feeling better. God Bless. JK
ReplyDeleteYay! I've been checking the site constantly! You are such an inspiration to so many of us. Glad to hear you are home!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are home safe and sound! I will definitely be checking on my currency and adding that to my yearly physical!
ReplyDeleteI know Pertussis is the vaccine everyone is talking about these days, but when I reviewed the components of the DTAP combo for my kids it was Tetnus that sounded the worst to me. So glad you are recovering nicely.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are doing better! I hope you are able to rest and recoup with your little ones! I am sure they will be great helpers!
ReplyDeleteI got my DTap booster when my little guy had his first shots. My GP said that the benefit of doing it that way is that I will know to get a booster with each decade Ashe gets older - easy milestones to remember!
ReplyDeleteYou are so unlucky to have gotten tetanus, but so lucky too because it could have been so much worse!
Vaccines are important and really can and do save lives.
Glad that you are now recovering home. I'll make sure to schedule my shots very soon. Take care of yourself. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're doing better Jenny.
ReplyDeleteSO GLAD you are home and feeling a bit better! Get yourself the October issue of Architectural Digest and relax. There's a Greenwich Village backyard that made me think of you as soon as I saw it...for a preview:

SO so glad you are okay!! I was recently helping a friend paint at her new house and while I was layed out on the yet-to-be finished floors I ended up with a rusty old staple in my leg OUCH. She INSISTED that I get a tetnus booster (she and her husband had gotten them days earlier for similar reasons)- they had a close friend who had passed away as a result of contracting tetnus while over seas- SO SCARY.
ReplyDeleteLesson- GET A BOOSTER
So glad you are okay!!

ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you're doing okay, Jenny, and back at home with your family. I read up on Tetanus after reading your husband's post. Pretty scary...and it sounds very painful. Hoping for a speedy recovery! (PS: I got my Tetanus booster 2 years ago after cutting myself on a filing cabinet. After hearing your story, I'm glad I did! If you don't remember getting your last Tetanus shot, it's time to get a booster.)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back at home and feeling better. :)

ReplyDeleteWhew! I'm glad you're feeling better and hope your recovery will be swifter than you thought.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding parents to get their children vaccinated. It shouldn't be a controversial subject but your recent experience, as well as the cases of whooping cough this year, have really hammered home the importance of building up your immune system.
Looking forward to more of your great DIY projects...
Blogs are funny things. We begin to care for those we've never met. I prayed for you and know this experience will make you an even better wife and mom.

So happy you are home and on the mend :)
ReplyDeleteCan you explain a little more on the injury? It seems how you got it isn't how they say, as in it's anaerobic and so you need a puncture would that allows the tetnus to go from the dirt into the would where it continues to not get air.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious because I have an auto-immune disease and really shouldn't get vaccines. I had felt ok with not updating this one because I'd know there was an issue if I received a pucture type wound that was deeper than I could clean. Now I'm worried.
I'm sooo glad you're ok and would be very thankful if you wanted to shed some more light on it.
Thanks,
Laura
Jenny, I literally exhaled when I saw this post; what a relief to have you back! You were missed -- I can only imagine how your family felt. Still thinking of you as you make a full recovery. --Courtney

ReplyDeleteSo happy this has turned out OK for you. A chilling reminder to all of us that just because we don't hear about people getting tetanus all the time doesn't mean there is no tetanus out there to get. Thank goodness for excellent medical care and thank you for sharing this so everyone who reads your blog got a big reminder to check his or her vaccination status!
